Georgia ranks first in the world for freedom from corruption in the Trace International rating
In the Trace International rating of freedom from corruption risks, Georgia ranks 28th in the world, and in Europe – 19th, according to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
In the Trace Matrix 2020 Corruption Risk Matrix, Georgia’s score improved by one point compared to the previous year, and it was ranked 28th among 194 countries with 25 points and 6th among 50 countries in the Asian region.
“Georgia is ahead of 14 EU countries: Italy, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Latvia, Croatia, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Malta, Spain.
The rating evaluates countries according to the level of corruption, honesty on the likelihood of corruption, anti-corruption legislation, government transparency and the level of civil society development. The rating assesses a country in four components, which in turn include nine subcomponents.
Georgia received the highest rating in a key subcomponent such as “Freedom from corruption in relations with the government” – in this segment Georgia ranks first in the world.
